Custom orders from the lovely Z., from the USA, new look at the 2 most famous Mezzo American cultures, the Mayan and the Aztecs.
Inspired by this beautiful art from a fellow deviant, Karracaz (http://karracaz.deviantart.com/), this Aztec doll was a great challenge!
I love the headdress to bits! And I finally got to use some of my cruelty-free parrot and peacock feathers I had kept in my stash for several years!
I'm more accustomed to small scattered clusters or long curved lines of beading and this sort of angular patterns on the dress were a first.
There's plenty of room for improvement (oh, symmetry, why do you elude me so?!), but I'm quite proud of myself here. :D
And a Mayan one inspired by the costumes in the movie Apocalypto, a new version of a doll I made some time ago: http://deriana.livejournal.com/53781.ht
Here you can see the hair ringlets better as well as the turquoise chips on the back decoration.
=) And here they are together in their new home!
