09:10 pm - Romance and horror
As a closet romantic, I was super excited when I received an order from the lovely E. for a Jane Austen Deridoll.
My first bonnet! *dances*
I'm not very good with 3D, so I grabbed some wrong-felt (a bad purchase a couple of year ago) and just went at it with the scissors for a pattern. A few minuted later, at a first try, pattern done! *high-fives self*
For decoration I just went with ribbon roses.
Her dress was a bit of a mix'n'match with another portrait and personal preference.
I really like the organza neckerchief under the sky blue felt.
The writing quill in her hand was a special request from E.
And from love and roses we move on to murder and horror. =)
"Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.'"
Lil' Edgar Alan Poe Deridoll.
My second attempt at eyebrows (the first was Frida Kahlo) and my first bird plushie. No prototype on the later. It came out like that on first try. =D
The raven was left unattached so she could pose it on his shoulder or hand.
I was afraid of the bird when I accepted this order, but the real ordeal was something else. Edgar's hair was a slice of HELL! 5 versions before I got it right! FIVE!
"And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!"
